In 2010, the Council of Europe and European Commission organise, for the fifth time in succession, presentation of awards titled „Crystal Scales of Justice“, with a view to promoting innovative practices in civil and criminal matters in terms of conducting a proceeding, organisation of court and functioning of judicial system. 

Applications can be submitted by courts, prosecutor's offices, chambers of lawyers, non-governmental organisations and other legislative bodies by way of completing the Application form according to the rules and send it to the European Commission or the Council of Europe by 30 June 2010.

In 2009, four projects were shortlisted for the award and Chrystal Scales of Justice for 2009 were given to the Central Board of Prison Service in Poland for the project „Voluntary work of prisoners in Poland“.
